Promises Kept (3): Jesus Came to Save Us!
Matthew 1:18-21; Psalm 50:7-13; Luke 2
For decades, the secular world has been replacing the true and worshipful things of Christmas with sanitized, saccharine, and meaningless symbols, sayings, and traditions. Why is the word "Christmas" so offensive? Why is a nativity scene so offensive? Jesus told His followers that the world would hate them because of Him. The truth is, Jesus came to save us from our sin. Jesus' entry into our world demonstrates a light that shines through the darkness and exposes the sins of the world -- our pride, selfishness, and self-righteousness. For those that reject Jesus, there is a natural discomfort. For the rest of us, there is salvation. Jesus' entry into our world should be celebrated, and His light cannot be and should not be snuffed out!
