WBC Family Discipleship Summit 2025

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”

Deuteronomy 6:5-7

At Wylie Baptist Church, we recognize that the discipleship of our children and future generations needs to start in the home. This year, we were blessed to have Dr. Chris Shirley share his wisdom with us for our third annual Family Discipleship Summit. Dr. Shirley serves as interim dean of the Jack D. Terry School of Educational Ministries, professor of educational ministries, and Jack D. and Barbara Terry Chair of Religious Education at Southwestern Seminary. In nearly a decade of teaching at Southwestern, Dr. Shirley has taught in the areas of adult ministry, family ministry, Christian education, and discipleship. He is author of “Family Ministry and the Church: A Leader’s Guide to Ministry Through the Family” (2018, Randall House). It is our prayer that these sessions will equip and encourage you to be more intentional with the discipleship of your children, your grandchildren, and those in your church and in your community.
